Here’s a creative challenge that I love to give myself: Every morning, I would replace the last word of my social initiative’s name, “While You Were Sleeping”, with other verbs as I people-watch. Many variations came about – While You Were Waiting, While You Were Eating, While You Were Walking, While You Were Jogging... etc. After doing so, I would then think of three needs that the person would be facing “While (he/she was) insert verb”. My heart is broken by the news that one of my guides, Mr. Valerian Joannes, was killed on the mountain. Both took turns on my social media feed.
Both in succession.
Both elicited an emotional response.
The first, news about the head of state that declared the nation still not ready for homosexuality. They say it takes mountains to be moved before the law would change.
A parent cheered at the news. It could have been worse. He enjoyed the opening night of the SEA Games. He was at peace. Many others were not.
Recently, during an interview, the writer of a magazine asked about what my designation in the article should be. “Should it read, Josiah Ng, 27, Filmmaker?
